Accessibility Statement

We're committed to easy access for everyone

Yankee Clipper Inn is committed to making our website as accessible as possible to people with special needs, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments. We have invested a large number of resources working towards improving the accessibility of our website to ensure we provide equal access to all of our users.

To help us make the Yankee Clipper Inn website a positive place for everyone, we use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user-friendly for everyone.

ADA Accessible Units

As required by law for owner-occupied properties that have more than 5 units*, properties with 6 units or more should provide a unit that is reserved for customers with disabilities. The property should clearly identify these units and describe the accessible features in sufficient detail to reasonably permit individuals with disabilities to assess independently whether the given unit meets his or her accessibility needs. When selecting an ADA-designated unit, if you do not have accessibility or other disability needs, please click cancel and select another unit unless it is the last unit available. If you do not meet the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for this unit and it is not the last unit available, Yankee Clipper Inn reserves the right to change your reservation to another unit without your permission to accommodate customers with qualifying disabilities.

Guest suite access. The Inn consists of three historic buildings, none of which have elevators. Inn staff are available to assist with luggage delivery to any room.

The Main Inn (Yankee Clipper) has one first floor suite. Access to this suite is at grade through a 28" wide door, directly off the Inn's parking lot. The suite has a queen size bed with a wheelchair accessible shower, sink, and toilet. The other guest suites in the Main Inn are located on the second and third floors with stair access only. These suites are large but are not ADA compliant.

Guest suites at the Bulfinch House are located on the first and second floors. Three steps exist at the entry and stairs lead to the second floor. Bulfinch House suites are smaller than the Main Inn and are not ADA compliant.

Guest suites at the Quarterdeck are located on the first, second, and third floors. Three steps exist at the entry and stairs lead to the upper floors. Quarterdeck suites are larger than the Bulfinch House and are not ADA compliant.

Breakfast/Veranda access. Breakfast is served each morning in the Veranda on the first floor of the Main Inn. Access to the Main Inn's first floor and Veranda is through the main entrance at 127 Granite Street. This entrance has two steps, which inn staff are available to assist anyone needing help to navigate. The Main Inn first floor has one unisex bathroom that is not fully accessible.

Grounds access
The Inn's waterfront grounds are rugged with many large rocks in keeping with Rockport's natural landforms. There is no beach and the grade change from the street to the water's edge is steep. Navigating steps is a requirement. The outdoor pool has an ADA compliant pool lift.

If climbing stairs is a challenge, we do have accommodations on the first floor.  Please contact us at (978) 546-0001 to book an accessible room.

*According to federal law as found on https://www.ada.gov/taman3.html, places of lodging with 5 or fewer units and have the owner living on the property are exempt from having to have an ADA unit for those with disabilities. Religious organizations are exempt from Title III requirements. Historical properties may also be exempt from certain aspects of title III requirements, but property owners need to verify based on local and federal requirements.

All other properties may be subject to title III requirements.
